Fried Dough Rings (Rosquillas Fritas) Recipe

Indulge in these delightful fried dough rings, perfect for breakfast or as a sweet treat during tea time. Their crispy exterior and soft interior will make them a favorite for both adults and kids alike.

Ingredients:

  • 30 tablespoons of flour
  • 1 cup of sugar, plus more for dusting
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of oil, plus more for frying
  • 3 packets of yeast

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a deep mixing bowl, add the flour. Incorporate the eggs, oil, sugar, milk, and yeast packets.
  2. Knead the Dough: Begin mixing the ingredients slowly. Once the mixture starts gaining consistency, transfer it onto a table or countertop. Continue kneading until you achieve an elastic texture similar to bread dough. If the dough is too sticky or doesn’t hold its shape, add more flour until it’s manageable.
  3. Shaping Tip: To prevent the dough from sticking to your hands or the workspace, lightly coat your hands and surface with a thin layer of oil.
  4. Shape the Dough Rings: Take a small portion of the dough and roll it into a rounded strip approximately 10 to 11 centimeters long, ensuring it isn’t too thin. Join the ends to form a ring. Repeat this process until all the dough is used up.
  5. Fry the Dough Rings: In a frying pan, heat up to half a liter of oil. Once the oil is hot, add the dough rings. Fry until golden brown on both sides. Once cooked, transfer the rings to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
  6. Finish & Serve: While still warm, sprinkle the fried dough rings with sugar. Serve and enjoy!

Remember, like with all fried foods, these are best enjoyed freshly made!
