Easy and Fluffy Milk Bread

A delicious bread, characterized by its soft and fluffy texture, milk bread is a delightful addition to your breakfast table. Whether you’re enjoying it with some butter and jam or using it to make a scrumptious sandwich, this milk bread recipe promises a mouthwatering result.

Ingredients:

  • 450 g of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 225 ml of milk
  • 25 g of sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 50 g of butter
  • 25 g of fresh yeast (a whole small block)

Instructions:

  1. Activate the Yeast: Begin by warming up the milk for a few seconds in the microwave. Add the sugar and yeast, letting it sit for about 10 minutes to activate the yeast.
  2. Prepare the Dry Mix: While the yeast is activating, sift the flour using a colander, mix in the salt, and set it aside.
  3. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Once the 10 minutes have passed, pour the milk and yeast mixture into the flour, ensuring the yeast is completely dissolved.
  4. Add Eggs: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then add them to the flour mixture. You can mix using a whisk or a mixer. Using a whisk provides a slower blending process, while a mixer will give faster results.
  5. Integrate the Butter: If the butter is too hard, soften it slightly in the microwave. Ideally, the butter should be at room temperature. Incorporate the butter into the dough and mix well.
  6. Knead the Dough: Begin kneading the dough with your hands. Spend a few minutes working the dough, ensuring it becomes smooth.
  7. Let it Rise: Shape the dough into a ball and cover it with a cloth. Let it rest for about 90 minutes in a draft-free place, like inside a microwave or a closed cupboard.
  8. Shaping the Bread: After the resting period, the dough should have doubled in size due to the yeast’s action. Divide the dough into equal portions. Form them into balls, flatten them using a plate, and then cut the edges to give them a rectangular shape.
  9. Final Touches: Make three diagonal slashes on the surface of each bread piece. This is the traditional shape, but feel free to be creative.
  10. Second Rise: Place the shaped bread on a baking tray, cover with a cloth, and let them rest for an additional 25 minutes.
  11. Egg Wash: Just before the end of this second resting period, beat an egg and brush it over the bread for a shiny finish.
  12. Baking: Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F). Bake the milk breads for about 10 minutes. After baking, turn off the oven and let them sit inside for another 5 minutes.

This milk bread is not only easy to make but is sure to impress with its soft and fluffy texture. Perfect for breakfast or a mid-day snack, it’s a treat you won’t get enough of!
