Homemade Guacamole – Ready in 10 Minutes
Ingredients
- 3 medium ripe avocados, peeled and cubed
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 to 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh cilantro
- 2 medium tomatoes, seeded and chopped, optional
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise, optional
Instructions
- Avocados are mashed with salt and garlic. Mix in the other ingredients, if desired including tomatoes and mayonnaise.
Tips
The so-called “good fat” monounsaturated fatty acid, which is abundant in avocados, can lower blood cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.

In this recipe, you can switch between lemon and lime juice to get a varied flavor. To make up for the absence of orange, though, you’ll need to keep a small amount of lemon or lime.
