How to make pizza at home
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Optional toppings: sliced mushrooms, sliced onions, sliced peppers, cooked sausage, pepperoni, sliced olives
Preparation:
- In a large bowl, mix together the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes, until the mixture becomes foamy.
- Add the flour, salt, and olive oil to the bowl. Mix until the dough comes together.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 5-10 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a damp towel. Let rise for 1 hour, until the dough has doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Place the rolled-out dough on a greased pizza pan or baking sheet.
- Spread the tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a small border around the edge.
- Add the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce.
- Add any desired toppings on top of the cheese.
- Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
Let the pizza cool for a few minutes before
